The cloake board is used as a means of separating the main queen right hive (below) from the cell building area, placed above. The slide is set fully in place when first creating the cell builder above the queen right part of the hive to reduce queen pheromones, creating a queenless environment. This queenless situation causes the nurse bees, placed above the board with sealed brood, pollen and honey, to raise queen cells from the grafted cups installed 12 to 24 hours later. Over the cycle of cell building, the slide is removed to allow interaction with both parts of a hive, creating a more robust queen cell building unit. Fully assembled and ready for use.
