Product Description


The Italian bee is the most common subspecies raised in the US, and is a great bee for beginning beekeepers. Italian queens are mated and marked. 

    Strengths of Italian honey bees:
  • High productivity and honey creation
  • Very prolific; focuses on raising brood
  • One of the gentlest and most docile of the bee subspecies
  • Readily builds comb
  • Readily enters supers
  • Wonderful foragers
  • Less tendency to swarm than other subspecies
  • Produces minimal amount of propolis
  • Strong cleaning behaviors
  • Great for areas with continuous nectar flow and favorable weather throughout the summer
Available for pickup at the Clarkson, KY facility or shipment in the continental US. Free Shipping does not apply to queens.

Shipping cost and delivery time: All Queen shipments are shipped through the United States Postal Service (USPS).  Priority Mail may take up to 2-4 business days, depending on your location.  Express Mail is a guaranteed 48-hour delivery regardless of your location.  Kelley Beekeeping cannot overnight queens.  Shipping charges are applied during processing.  Insurance has been added into the shipping cost.  Free Shipping does not apply to queens.

 Pickups will be at our Clarkson, KY location after 1 PM CST. All pickups are subject to KY sales tax.
